Kin is a decentralized digital token based on the Ethereum blockchain. It is used as the currency for the Kik ecosystem, a decentralized platform that enables the transfer of value to digital services such like social media and gaming apps.

The Kik system was developed around June 2017, and integrated the Kin token into its ecosystem in the last quarter of 2017. Kik closed its token sale on September 26, 2017, raising about $100 million from approximately 10,000 individuals from 117 untries.

The main goal of the Kik ecosystem is to bring a group of participants including partners, users and developers together, in order to create an ecosystem that will encourage the widespread use of cryptocurrency and especially the adoption of the Kin digital currency. Kik foundation seeks to create a compelling ecosystem for users. this ecosystem will be fair to users, and open and flexible to developers. Developers are to receive rewards for creating useful applications on the Kik ecosystem.

Kin will act as the currency on the Kik ecosystem. All transactions on the Kik ecosystem with be paid or carried out using Kin.

Kin is compatible with various wallets including its own native Kin wallet as well as others like Exodus, Citowise and Infinito wallets. It is also listed in several large exchanges including HitBTC, Mercatox, IDEX, COSS, OTCBTC and CoinFalcon among others.

The entire project is supported and funded by the Kin Foundation, a community of partners and developers.
